Role Overview:
As a Social Media Manager for I Am Open, you’ll be the voice and digital presence of our mission across social media platforms. This role involves managing content, engaging with followers, and sharing critical updates on disaster relief resources. The Social Media Manager plays a vital role in growing our online community, recruiting new volunteers, and ensuring that accurate information reaches those who need it most.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation and Posting: Develop and share engaging, informative posts that highlight available resources, disaster updates, volunteer opportunities, and success stories from the field.
- Community Engagement: Respond to messages, comments, and questions from followers, providing support and guiding them to the I Am Open platform for more information.
- Recruitment and Awareness: Post regularly about volunteer opportunities, encouraging people to join our team and spreading awareness of I Am Open’s mission.
- Crisis Communication: Share real-time updates on critical services during disasters, helping followers access timely information on shelters, food distribution sites, and emergency contacts.
- Collaborate with Other Teams: Work closely with the Research, Admin, and Phone Support teams to ensure social media reflects the most current information and matches our overall communications strategy.
Skills Needed:
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Ability to create engaging, visually appealing posts using basic design tools
- Experience with social media scheduling and analytics tools (preferred)
- Ability to work independently while staying aligned with the I Am Open mission and brand voice
