Role Overview:
IT and Tech Support Volunteers are the technical backbone of I Am Open, ensuring that our website and digital tools run smoothly and securely. This role involves maintaining and troubleshooting the platform, improving site functionality, and optimizing our tech infrastructure to provide the best possible experience for our users and team. Tech support volunteers play a critical role in keeping our platform accessible, reliable, and responsive during times of high demand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Website Maintenance: Monitor, update, and troubleshoot the I Am Open website to ensure stability, performance, and ease of use for visitors seeking critical resources.
- System Optimization: Identify areas for improvement, streamline processes, and enhance site functionality to make information more accessible and user-friendly.
- Technical Support: Provide on-call support to resolve any website or system issues as they arise, especially during active disaster response periods.
- Security and Data Protection: Monitor the platform for security vulnerabilities, update software and security patches, and protect sensitive information from unauthorized access.
- Collaboration with Other Teams: Work closely with the Research and Social Media teams to implement updates and display information in a way that supports easy access and user engagement.
Skills Needed:
- Proficiency in website management, including experience with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress)
- Familiarity with website hosting, security protocols, and data protection practices
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly troubleshoot technical issues
- Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, or other web technologies (preferred)
- Ability to work independently and communicate technical issues clearly with non-technical team members
