IAO – Volunteer Manager
The Volunteer Manager is responsible for developing, coordinating and maintain a strong and effective volunteer program in support of the mission and goals of the I Am Open organization. This role involves recruiting, onboarding, training, scheduling and retaining volunteers. Additional responsibilities include working closely with the I Am Open Board of Directors to identify volunteer needs and ensure a positive experience for both volunteers and the communities we serve.
Reports to: Director of Operations (or Chief Operating Officer)
Location: Remote
Salary: Volunteer Only
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Program Development and Management
- Develop and implement a strategic volunteer program aligned with the organization goals.
- Maintain an accurate and up to date volunteer database.
- Establish policies and procedures; conduct presentations to attract new volunteers.
Training and Supervision
- Conduct volunteer orientations and training sessions. Match volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on skills, interests and availability
Coordination and Scheduling
- Track and report volunteer hours and contributions.
- Foster and alignment with organizational policies, legal requirements and protocols.
Qualifications
- Experience in non-profit management, human resources or related field.
- Experience managing volunteers or coordinating community programs.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Experience with supporting a broad and diverse groups of people regularly.
Preferred:
- Experience in a non-profit environment.
- Knowledge of traumatic volunteer engagement practices.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Ability to work flexible hours and schedule.
