IAO – Director of Operations

Job Summary:
The Director of Operations oversees the daily operations of the nonprofit organization to ensure effective and efficient processes, resource allocation, and alignment with the organization’s mission. This role is responsible for internal systems, staff coordination, compliance, and operational strategy, supporting programmatic and administrative goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management
- Develop and implement operational systems and procedures to support day-to-day activities.
- Ensure smooth internal workflows across departments.
- Oversee office management, facilities, and vendor relationships.
- Financial Oversight
- Assist with budget development and financial planning.
- Monitor expenses and ensure financial procedures are followed.
- Work with the finance team or bookkeeper to ensure accurate reporting.
- Human Resources
- Manage HR policies and staff onboarding/offboarding.
- Support a positive organizational culture and promote team development.
- Maintain compliance with employment laws and nonprofit regulations.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain organizational licenses, insurance, and legal documents.
- Strategic Support
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and board on strategic planning.
- Assist in monitoring organizational performance and impact.
- Support grant management and reporting as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (Business, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred).
- 5+ years of operations or administrative leadership experience, ideally in a nonprofit.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience with budgeting, HR, compliance, and project management.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable with systems like QuickBooks, Google Workspace, or CRM tools.
